New UK-India Intellectual Property Toolkit launched As part of developing UK-India collaboration on intellectual property, the UK Intellectual Property Office, working with Indian partners, has launched a new UK-India Intellectual Property Toolkit. 22 May 2013 NERC’s Centre for Ecology and Hydrology visit India Professor Mark Bailey, the Director and Professor Alan Jenkins, the Deputy Director of the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology visited India from 15-18 April. This aim of their visit was to help raise the profile of CEH and seek to establish institutional partnerships with high-quality research institutes in India. 13 May 2013 BBSRC-DBT announce a joint call for proposals for Crop Genomics BBSRC and India’s Department of Biotechnology have announced a joint call for proposals for collaborative research projects that underpin the use of genomics and associated bioinformatics approaches to address crop improvement. This is following a successful BBSRC-DBT workshop held in May 2012, in Norwich UK, which RCUK India and Science and Innovation Network facilitated.
2 Apr 2013 Cyber security workshop brings together top researchers from India and the UK Research Councils UK (RCUK) and India’s Department of Science and Technology have brought together top researchers from India and the UK for a workshop in New Delhi to discuss cyber security, a pressing transnational issue demanding global cooperation. 26 Mar 2013 UK-India Initiative on Social Sciences PhD Partnering launched A new UK-India PhD Partnering Initiative in the Social Sciences has been launched with funding from the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). 13 Mar 2013 NERC and ESSO-MOeS to strengthen UK-Indian collaboration in earth sciences and environmental research The Natural Environment Research Council of the UK (NERC) and the Earth System Science Organization, Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Republic of India (MoES) have agreed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate cooperation between the UK and Indian earth system science and environmental research communities. 1 Mar 2013 BBSRC-DBT announce plans for joint call in Crops Genomics and Technologies After a successful joint workshop held in May 2012 in Norwich, the UK’s Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and India’s Department of Biotechnology (DBT) will announce a joint call for research proposals in the coming weeks. 22 Feb 2013 Value of research facilitated by RCUK India tops £100 million as the two Prime Ministers endorse new joint ventures The value of joint research facilitated by Research Councils UK (RCUK) India since 2008 has topped £100 million, as was highlighted during the meeting of the UK and Indian Prime Ministers, David Cameron and Manmohan Singh, in India this week.
