Bridging the Gap between Academia and Local Government, UK universities and research
institutions deliver much research that is relevant to local authorities, but is
often under-used.
Research evidence can sometimes be difficult to access or digest Academic researchers,
policymakers and practitioners do not always understand each other sufficiently
In some cases, innovative research and new kinds of enquiry are needed to tackle
complex problems. LARCI bridges the divide between academic researchers and practitioners.
To facilitate and extend LARCI’s work into Scotland, the
Scottish Funding Council (SFC), the
Scottish Government and LARCI are working together on a range of activities
which are helping to build research capacity within Scottish local authorities.
