About the RCUK partnership

Research Councils UK (RCUK) is a strategic partnership of the UK Research Councils. RCUK was established in 2002 to enable the Research Councils to work together more effectively to enhance the overall impact and effectiveness of their research, training and innovation activities, contributing to the delivery of the Government’s objectives for science and innovation.

In this section you can find information about:

  • RCUK Aims & Organisation: how RCUK optimise the ways that Research Councils work together to deliver their goals.
  • The RCUK Executive Group: The RCUK partnership is led by the Research Council Chief Executives, who collectively own, drive and monitor the strategic and operational activities that deliver the RCUK mission.
  • Foresight: is a joint scheme which helps to improve how we use science and technology within government and society.

Each of the Research Councils is an equal partner in RCUK, and each uses its best endeavours to identify and pursue opportunities for mutually beneficial joint working with one or more of the other Councils

The RCUK delivery plan sets out the Councils’ priorities for joint working.
