The e-Science Core Programme is entering its third phase as many of the techniques developed during the first six years are becoming part of standard research practice. The Core Programme is now funded by the EPSRC to support the generic facilities that users and potential users of e-Science tools and techniques need to further their research. Support is also being provided for networking activities for the community and to promote UK e-Science internationally.
The Research Councils, through the Core Programme, are working with the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) to contribute to a national e-infrastructure that meets the requirements of the Government's Science and Innovation Investment Framework 2004-2014. The e-infrastructure consists of the networks, services and software needed to do e-Science.
