RCUK Office in India logoGeneral information for travel to the United Kingdom

All information you require is available on UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and Visa Facilitation Services (VFS) Global. VFS are the commercial partner working with UKVI in China.

  • Standard processing time
    Applications must be made at least one month in advance especially for those applying for a UK visa for the first time. You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to the UK. UKBA strongly advise you not to confirm your travel arrangements until you have received your visa. Read more

    All applicants must apply online, and book an appointment at one of the visa application centres. Read more to apply online.
  • Personal Appointment 
    You must attend an appointment in person to enrol your biometric information
  • Visa fee and documents

General information for travel to China

All information you require is available on the Chinese Visa Application Centre and the Chinese Embassy websites. The Visa Centre is the commercial partner working with the Chinese embassy in the UK.

  • Standard processing time

It is advisable that you apply for a visa one month before your intended date of entry into China but not earlier than three months.

  • Making an application

If you hold an ordinary passport, you should submit your application at the Visa Centre in the country where you lawfully reside. Please follow the step by step guidance on the Visa Application Centre website to access the visa application form, you will need to submit all the required application documents to the Visa Centre.

  • Visa fee and documents

It is essential for your passport to have at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages. For a full list of documents needed, please click here.
