The global research landscape is changing and new research powers are emerging, supported by substantial and growing national funding. At the same time we are faced with new and pressing global challenges. The strong partnership between the UK and the US is a solid foundation from which to find solutions to these challenges, sometimes in tandem, but often in multidisciplinary and multinational programmes, with mutual benefit. The UK has enjoyed an active and productive research relationship with the US for many years, and we remain partners of choice for collaborative activities. Collectively, the Research Councils have partnerships of over £1.5 billion with the US.
