Collection of First Destination Data for Research Council Students
Since 2004 The Research Councils have contracted with the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) to collect all Research Council data for their students, within the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DHLE) survey, which is linked to the student record. From the first sets of data available it is clear that the unique identification of Research Council students within the HESA student record is not complete. Therefore Research Councils would ask that all institutions complete the MSTUFEE (Major source of tuition fees) field to ensure that for every Research Council student the sponsoring Council is recorded. Please see the DHLE website for background information.

RCUK announces changes to studentship eligibility rules affecting EU nationals PDF, 66KB
Non-UK EU nationals who have spent the previous three years in the UK undertaking undergraduate study will now meet the residency requirements for full postgraduate studentship support. Previously residence for the purpose of full time education was excluded by the eligibility criteria.
This change follows a European Court of Justice ruling on a case brought by a French national. In making this change the RCUK is basing its approach on the changes already announced by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).
Full details can be found in the letter (linked above) that RCUK has issued to all Administrative Authorities of Higher Education Institutions in the UK and Research Council Establishments.
