The Research Councils have made changes to the way they process grants, studentship and fellowship applications. This change is part of an ongoing programme of harmonisation to ensure all the Research Councils use the same system and processes.
The creation of the RCUK Shared Services Centre Ltd (RCUK SSC) is helping the Research Councils reduce spend on administration. Sharing and standardising processes means more funds can be invested in research, keeping the UK at the forefront of research and innovation. It also simplifies the grant application process and administration for the Research Councils and their communities.
RCUK SSC is a separate legal entity, wholly owned by the seven UK Research Councils. The RCUK SSC is already providing us shared services in HR, Finance, Procurement and IT and grants support through management of the Je-S (Joint Electronic Submission) service for grants, studentships and fellowships.
