Autumn Statement 2012 allocations

On 5 December 2012, the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne announced £600 million funding for research and innovation during his Autumn Statement, £484 million of which has been allocated for capital investment opportunities.

RCUK welcomed this new funding, which acknowledges the crucial contribution of research to economic growth and the societal wellbeing of the UK. The funds will underpin the key areas for capital and infrastructure investment, identified in RCUK’s Investing for Growth: Capital Infrastructure for the 21st Century.

The investment opportunities are outlined below and will make a significant contribution to ensuring the future sustainability of UK research competitiveness; supporting the UK in maximising its innovation potential and driving economic growth.
