Our quality of life is greatly influenced by the community in which we reside. This seminar, which was one of many organised for the ESRC's Social Science Week, examined the channels though which communities may be made safer and stronger. Presentations included Mike Dillon speaking on knowledge resourcing for civil contingencies; Juliet Mountford on anti-social behaviour; Roger Sykes on Partnership in action; Alisdiar Rose talking about the objectives, opportunities and work of the Technologies for Crime Prevention and Detection Programme; Sarah Williams on crime and disorder research in the East of England regional Government Office; and Gloria Laycock presenting the role of Crime Science in reducing crime.
