Many people across the UK rely on public transport. Despite this, transport services do not always meet the needs of society. In order to provide better services and facilities, and to develop effective policy, local authorities need to have access to an evidence base of research. The objective of this seminar was to bring together practitioners from different fields of research to share knowledge and ideas regarding Local Authority involvement in the provision of public transport. Collaboration between Local Authorities and academic researchers was a key theme of this seminar. Presentations and workshops covered a range of topics including climate modelling to forecast which roads will require salting; accessibility of public transport; funding adequacies and current policies; stakeholder engagement and environmental impact.
