Excellent research and the resulting benefits can be accrued through collaboration between local authorities and Research Councils. The 'master class' sessions, aimed at local authorities, saw a showcase of examples of excellent research, illustrating the mutual benefits of local authorities and academics working together. The master class workshop sessions encouraged in-depth discussion and facilitated future collaboration.
