Performance management is crucial to the successful delivery of services by local government authorities. This co-sponsored event between LARCI and the Policy Network explored performance management, specifically in the context of Local Authorities. Key players in the field of performance management presented information for discussion on various aspects of performance management, including approaches to target setting and performance assessment; using research to inform decisions relating to performance policy and how best to apply such performance policy; the positive and negative consequences of target setting and performance management; and ways in which information regarding good practice in policy management may be successfully disseminated.
