EPSRC leads the Research Councils UK Energy Programme in which BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC,
NERC and STFC work together to develop and deliver energy research and training
within a common strategic framework.

Integrated Energy Storage Grand Challenges - updated
Submission of Ideas: The Research Councils UK Energy Programme is seeking
input from stakeholder groups to help identify opportunities for Grand Challenges
in the area of Large Scale Integrated Energy Storage for Future Energy Networks.

The ESRC Knowledge Exchange call is open from 1 September until 27 October 2011.
This call is aimed at social science researchers at all stages of their career and
at organisations in the business, public and civil society sectors, with the intention
of encouraging dialogue and collaboration between these groups. There are two separate
schemes: -
The Knowledge Exchange Opportunities scheme
This is a flexible scheme that provides funding for knowledge exchange activities
at all stages of the research life-cycle and is intended as a complement to Pathways
to Impact.
The Follow on Fund scheme
The aim of this scheme is to provide funding for additional knowledge exchange and
impact generating activities to follow on from a specific piece of substantial research
that is drawing to an end or has recently finished.

Carbon capture and storage for natural gas power stations
Invitation for proposals: The Research Councils UK Energy Programme, led
by the EPSRC, invites research proposals focusing on carbon capture and storage
(CCS) issues related to natural gas power plants.

Fellowships
Open call: Applications for Fellowships at all levels are now open. There
is a new framework which removes closing dates and eligibility requirements based
on years of experience, and establishes a person specification against which applicants
will be judged. The Energy Programme is inviting proposals in CCS, end-use energy
demand, marine energy and off-shore wind. please refer to the call for details on
which types of fellowships are invited for the different areas.
