Following the Comprehensive Spending Review Science Budget Allocations on 11 December 2007, the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, John Denham, asked Ian Diamond, as chair of RCUK Executive group to organise a series of reviews on the health of key research disciplines in the UK as part of RCUK's ongoing work in this area on behalf of the Research Base Funders Forum.
The first of these reviews will be on physics, led by Professor Bill Wakeham, Vice-Chancellor, the University of Southampton.
